Description
In 2013, we prepared a competition for young designers - students of industrial design and architecture. Those taking part in the competition were tasked with preparing a design of a watch that met the technical requirements (mechanism used, size, etc.) with the theme of hussars.
The prize was to put the design into production and participate in the process of creating the actual product. Enough of creating for a drawer! The first product under your own name.
The competition jury watched the incoming designs with great curiosity, evaluating both their maturity and the style and courage of the creators themselves.
A year after the competition began, the winning design by Mr. Tomasz Michalski was selected from among the entries. It won the hearts of the jury with its openness and stylistic courage. To commemorate the world's finest heavyweight ride with a suit watch was something bold and unusual.
In settling the competition, we made a commitment to fund the implementation of the project into production within 2 years of the announcement of the result.
And so a model was created which, with its dimensions - 41 wide and less than 10 mm thick - meets the definition of a suit watch, while at the same time distinguishing itself from them by its massiveness and compactness of construction. In order to provide it with proper water resistance - in this case WR100/10ATM - a relatively new mechanism on the market was used. It is the Miyota 9015, whose thickness of 3.9 mm allowed the use of the structurally required thicknesses of both the caseback and sapphire glass.
A classic enamel dial was used, which subtly captures the symbolism of hussar wings. The slender hands represent the weapons of the hussar - looking at them we see an armor, a saber, as well as a lance. In this regard, the jury especially appreciated the delicacy of the symbolism, without affecting its expressiveness.
The whole is complemented by a mesh wire bracelet referring to the hussar's chainmail. (In this offer bracelet watch).
Thus, after 22 months, on Independence Day, 11.11.2016 at 20:00, the model of the Hussar watch by Mr. Tomasz Michalski, to whom we wish many more successes in industrial design, hit the market.
