Xicorr spark is our first watch inspired by aviation.
spark… spark… TS-11 Iskra…
PZL TS-11 Iskra is a modern Polish combat training aircraft. The prototype's first flight took place in 1960. Serial production lasted from 1963 to 1987, ending with the production of 424 copies of this aircraft. Propulsion (since 1969) is provided by a single WSK SO-3 jet engine. The plane reaches a maximum speed of 720 km/h and a maximum range of up to 1,250 kilometers. The on-board armament consists of a single NS-23 or NR-23 23 mm cannon.
With the widespread introduction of jet aircraft into Polish aviation, there was a need to construct an adequate training aircraft. The WSK "PZL Mielec" plant was responsible for its development and production, and its main designer was Tadeusz Sołtyk. The new aircraft turned out to be a successful design with good performance, relatively low reliability and low operating costs. During mass production, many variants of this aircraft were created. The first mass-produced version was the Iskra bis-A, powered by the SO-1 engine. Shortly later, the Iskra bis-B version appeared, which was a training and combat model with the ability to carry suspended weapons. The Iskra R version, i.e. the maritime reconnaissance version, and the Iskra bis D version - the training and combat version, also entered service. A civilian version without weapons was also created, called Iskra Jet. The military users of the TS-11 Iskra aircraft were Poland and India. In the civilian version, the planes were sent, among others, to the USA and Great Britain.
The direct inspiration for the watch was the direction indicator, which is one of the basic on-board clocks. We were inspired by the layout of this device and its indications. Of course, Xicorr spark is our interpretation of this clock.
